Can you love someone you can never touch?
Stella Grant likes to be in control—even though her totally out of control lungs have sent her in and out of the hospital most of her life. At this point, what Stella needs to control most is keeping herself away from anyone or anything that might pass along an infection and jeopardize the possibility of a lung transplant. Six feet apart. No exceptions.
The only thing Will Newman wants to be in control of is getting out of this hospital. He couldn’t care less about his treatments, or a fancy new clinical drug trial. Soon, he’ll turn eighteen and then he’ll be able to unplug all these machines and actually go see the world, not just its hospitals.
Will’s exactly what Stella needs to stay away from. If he so much as breathes on Stella she could lose her spot on the transplant list. Either one of them could die. The only way to stay alive is to stay apart. But suddenly six feet doesn’t feel like safety. It feels like punishment.
What if they could steal back just a little bit of the space their broken lungs have stolen from them? Would five feet apart really be so dangerous if it stops their hearts from breaking too?
Today I am so honored to be part of the blog tour for Five Feet Apart. You can check out my thoughts about the book below, but please also stop by the other blog tour stops for interviews, other reviews, giveaways, and so much more!
The movie adaptation will be released March 22, 2019 so you’ll have plenty of time to read the book before you see it. It stars Cole Sprouse and Haley Lu Richardson and the first trailer has already been released!
Uhm, no. I’m not crying. You are!
This book is everything guys. Being compared to The Fault of Our Stars is a hard feat to beat, but Five Feet Apart definitely surpass my expectation. It’s quite a fast read for me (with only 288 pages), but the fact that I finished it in one sitting has nothing to do with its length and everything with how AMAZING this book is.
Here are the reasons why you need to pick it up!
• It’s about Cystic Fibrosis. I just can’t stress enough how important it is to have a book featuring people with disabilities and illnesses. I learned so much about CF through this book, and seeing what Will and Stella have to go through as CF patients and the impacts that it has on themselves and their loved ones is absolutely heartbreaking.
“The only way to stay alive is to stay apart.”
• The characters are so amazingly well-developed! Both Stella and Will are such a breath of fresh air. They are so realistic, and while they seem to be the opposite of each other, they fit perfectly like puzzle pieces. I love their romance so much, and how they look out and see the best in one another.
• The writing is GORGEOUS. I sometimes caught myself reread lines in the book just from how beautiful they are. The author has done a wonderful job at weaving a vivid portrayal of the characters and their perspectives. Plus I’m pretty sure my heart stops every time I read about Stella and the way she looks through Will’s thoughts. They are just so stinking cute and did I mention MY HEART CAN’T TAKE IT!!
So yes, go out. Shout it to the mountain. Grab yourself a copy. BUY 100 COPIES FOR ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS. This book deserves to be read. And again, the book is being made into a movie Starring Cole Sprouse and Haley Lu Richardson *squeals*, so make sure to check it out!
