She’s more gunpowder than girl—and the fate of the desert lies in her hands.
Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mystical beasts still roam the wild and barren wastes, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinni still practice their magic. But there’s nothing mystical or magical about Dustwalk, the dead-end town that Amani can’t wait to escape from.
Destined to wind up “wed or dead,” Amani’s counting on her sharpshooting skills to get her out of Dustwalk. When she meets Jin, a mysterious and devastatingly handsome foreigner, in a shooting contest, she figures he’s the perfect escape route. But in all her years spent dreaming of leaving home, she never imagined she’d gallop away on a mythical horse, fleeing the murderous Sultan’s army, with a fugitive who’s wanted for treason. And she’d never have predicted she’d fall in love with him… or that he’d help her unlock the powerful truth of who she really is.

“You know, I never believed in fate until I met you… then I started thinking coincidence didn’t have near so cruel a sense of humor”

This series is such a beautiful specimen of books. Like, BEAUTIFUL. And I will be fangirling a lot, so just FYI.

Okay, long story short, this series is basically when westerners and their awesome guns have a smol bean baby with the wonderful fantasy world of Middle Eastern. And then that smol bean which is Rebel of the Sands here was BLESSED by the fairy of books with magical elements like unicorns (it’s magic HORSES Mariana, get it right) and the ability to make readers forget they suppose to eat dinner and read through the night.

(Ahem, that was an interesting analogy…)

So, in conclusion, Alwyn Hamilton is actually a fairy with a magic pen and these books are TOO MAGICAL FOR THIS WORLD. And if my rant happens to not doing its job, which is convincing you to pick this amazing series up (in that case I might have to fire it), here are 3 fabulous reasons why you need to do that now.

 •  DIVERSITY IS #GOALSRebel of the Sands does not center around the subject of diversity, but we can all appreciate the fact that this wonderful series takes place in a Middle Eastern setting (it also addresses an underlying issue of gender equality, so WIN-WIN). It just amazing to see and read about different cultures and people!

“Jin had told me once there was no arguing against belief. It was a foreign language to logic.”

 •  GLORIOUS PERSIAN FANTASY WORLD-BUILDINGI am in love with Hamilton’s amazing ability to give life to such a rich and magical world like this. There is a modern cowboy vibe to it, beautifully combined with magic and lots of badass gun duels. And did I mention spirits and monsters that lurk in the desert. 100% a MUST read.

 •  AMAZING CHARACTERS WITH AMAZING DEVELOPMENTSAmani is head-strong, very much flawed character, and I love her for that. Her sassiness is just a gem, and not to mention she’s crazingly good at shooting stuff and her development throughout the two books is fabulous! And let’s not forget my darling Jin *swoons*. He’s such a captivating character and his interaction with Amani is just so so adorable (a.k.a. involves lots of bleeding and guns mwahaha).

“She moved like a storm someone had given steel to.”

This series is beyond magical. Alwyn Hamilton totally blew me away with her debut series, and come to think, this is such a WOW for a debut. Rebel of the Sands is definitely a must read for all Fantasy lovers. I’m also super hyped up for the 3rd book releasing in 2018. Like, I MUST HAVE IT NOW *grabby hands*.
