Top 5 Friday: Book Trailers You Can’t Say “No” to

Hey guys! It’s time for another Top 5 post here at Book Is Glee, because, well, I think I’ve been neglecting this long enough. 😛

Book trailers are short videos introduction to a book. It can come in many different forms: The authors could feature a scene from the book, show a clip of themselves speaking about their novel, or present a slide show relevant images and animated text.

So I am here today to present you my Top 5 most amazing book trailers that will leave you speechless with an impulse to run to the store and get that book immediately. Yes, they are THAT good!

The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion

I was curling up laughing the first time I saw this. INGENIOUS, isn’t it? The humorous vibes definitely match with Uncle Rick’s writing style. And, uh, yes. The joke flying around is that the trailer is even better than the Percy Jackson movies. 😂 There are two other parts of the trailer too, “Archery” and “Sun”, and I guarantee those two are just as hilarious.

From Bad to Cursed by Katie Alender
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion

This trailer was for the 2nd book in Bad Girls Don’t Die, and boy was that one scary trailer. I love the fluffy but dangerous and mystery vibes that the video has. The book itself was not extremely horrifying scary, but it was definitely a chilling read for me.

Madly (a.k.a. The Potion Diaries) by Amy Alward
Publisher: Simon & Schuster

This trailer is so fun and adorable and I LOVE IT, like, A LOT. I just finished it for my #BookBuddyAthon and the book definitely as lovable as the trailer, or even more. The lively background music does make everything sounds more amazing! ❤ Also, did you see Zoella’s thought on that!! *swoon*

The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
Publisher: HarperCollins

Isn’t that the COOLEST trailer you’ve ever seen?! I’ve always been a sucker for the kind of story-telling trailers with tons of details linking in each other. And oh oh OH the background sounds are uh-mazing. I squeal every single time I watch this! Although the book wasn’t the highlight of my reading journey, the trailer was definitely a blast.

Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff
Publisher: Thomas Dunne Books

Hah! This is one of those trailer you just HAVE TO watch. According to the author, the trailer was made “just for fun”. Regardless, the music is crazingly epic. And since I’ve heard tons of good things about Jay Kristoff but haven’t got the experience myself yet, I guess someone is going to the bookstore very soon! 😉 (yes yes, that means I haven’t read Illuminae yet. Shame on me 😳)

Since these are all from big publishers, the quality is especially better than many other trailers. Book trailers, as cool as it may sound, they are definitely not always… the best. As an avid reader, I’ve seen lots of book trailers that I wish I never have laid eyes on. Yes, it was THAT bad. Of course, I understand the fact that the trailer’s quality and budget will never be able to compete a movie’s, and many people worked hard to make it. But “a bad trailer is worse than no trailer,” A poorly made book trailer sticks out. It can damage the image of both the author and the book, and it can hurt sales.

But put all that negative thoughts aside, and that is all. My top 5 favorite book trailers are all up there!
