Guess what?! I’m finally joining a bookish readathon!!!
So, about a week ago, The One and Only Amazing Aldii @ perfectioninbooks asked me to be her buddy read for this challenge, and I was like, “Yesyesyes when do we start?!” (I was pretty excited, mind me).
So long story short, this challenge was created by Elena and Sam. The #BookBuddyAthon is a week long readathon, with this round running from May 7th to May 13th, that encourages you to buddy up with someone and talk books, glorious books for a whole week.
The Challenges
1. CHOOSE 3 BOOKS & HAVE YOUR BUDDY PICK ONE FOR YOU TO READ
After giving Aldii the choice between:
- Sanctuary Bay by Laura J. Burns & Melinda Metz
- Spells of Blood and Kin by Claire Humphrey
- Labyrinth Lost by by Zoraida Córdova
She chose the latter, which I’m very pleased about – it was the one I was secretly hoping for (guilty pleasure :P). It was one of my Netgalley titles, and I just can’t wait to get to it. Witches and Cultures got me like honey got bees… <– my pathetic attempt to crack a joke.
2. BUDDY READ A BOOK WITH YOUR BUDDY
The starting point of this challenge was probably our love for Urban Fantasy books, so Aldii and I chose Spider’s Bite as our buddy-read book.
“My name is Gin, and I kill people.”
I’ve heard about this book quite a while ago, and has been meaning to read it. I mean, assassins and elemental powers are totally right up my alley. So glad Aldii and I got a chance to read this together (YAAAY!)
3. READ A BOOK WITH YOUR BUDDY’S FAVORITE COLOR ON IT
Aldii’s favorite color is purple, so I decided to go with Madly by Amy Alward. I found out about this book through it’s trailer, and lemme tell you, that was one awesome kind of book trailer it has.
“And just to add to the pressure, this quest is ALL OVER social media. And the world news. “
This book is basically a smash between Snape’s Potion Class with Hunger Games and a Barbie movie about that one princess who fell under a spell of a love potion (I’m pretty sure the movie was called A Fairy Secret). It sounds pretty awesome!
4. READ A BOOK WHERE THE TITLE STARTS WITH THE FIRST LETTER OF YOUR BUDDY’S NAME (OR AT LEAST APPEARS IN THE TITLE!)
Aldii is to ‘A’, as my to-read book is to…
A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES of course (because I shamefully haven’t read yet).
Aldii told me she really enjoyed this book, so I super duper hope I will too. I’m so excited for this hyped train. Like, huntress + Beauty & the Beast + fae??? I’m not the best at math, but I’m pretty sure that equation equals awesomeness!
5. READ A BOOK THAT YOU WANT TO, JUST BECAUSE…
I started on Indian culture a few weeks ago in class, and upon stumbling across this book, The Devourers by Indra Das, I knew I have to read this book. Also, this line got me…
“For readers of Neil Gaiman, Margaret Atwood, China Mieville, and David Mitchell comes a striking debut novel by a storyteller of keen insight and captivating imagination.”
Ohhh, yes please.
So yes, that’s my TBR for this #BookBuddyAthon with Aldii. It starts tomorrow, and I’m so so so excited so this!
Also, small note for Aldii: You are the best! Thank you for inviting me to join this challenge. Can’t wait for the first book tomorrow!! ❤
Have an amazing day! See you again tomorrow for more update on this challenge (hopefully :P)
Yaaas!!! SO excited!! I need to write my post but hopefully it will be up on Sunday!
